We are a light to each other.

Religious education is a lifelong process. Through faith formation, the church seeks to prepare its members, old and young, to live out the gospels. In these ministries we are helping each others grow in our faith and love for God. Faith formation informs, forms, and trasnforms the person into a robust and vital disciple of Jesus. This is a journey, and walking in a community, with friends and those who love us, make the journey a little easier.

Acts is also an acronym for Adoration, Community, Theology, and Service; and there are Masses Adoration, and several very pratical heartfelt presentations on these subjects given by lay parishioners during the weekend. These retreats are for all adults of all ages, whether new converts, RCIA candidates, or Cradle Catholics. One does not even need to be Catholic, but the retreat centers on our Catholic Faith. The warm, faithful, welcoming environment supports and teachers all of us wherever we are in community grows. There is something powerfully different in the heartfelt unity among participants at the end of the retreat. Each retreat starts on Thursday evening with check-in and continues into Sunday with a potluck lunch after the 11:00am Mass. The retreats start and end at Church of the Holy Cross, but the main activities and lodging will be at the Cross-Wind Conference Center. CYM provides high schoolers with the opportunity to encounter Jesus and center their lives on Him prayer, service, and fun. Here, you can meet and develop authentic friendships with other high schoolers in the area to build Christ-centered bonds that will last a lifetime. This ministry is led by a board of teenagers and several young adult volunteers. We also need more parent involvement and chaperones for big events. Contact Molly smith at 620-833-4662 for more information.
Cursillo In Christianity is an international movement with a large presence in the Wichita Diocese and at Holy Cross. The goal of the Cursillo Movement is to light a fire in the hearts of Catholic Christians to truly live their faith in every aspect of their lives and to be a light to others. The fire is lit in a three-day retreat or "short course" at the Spiritual Life Center in Wichita. (Cursillo, pronounced kur-see-yo, is the Spanish word meaning "short course".) A men's weekend and a women's weekend are held each year. The fire is kept burning through weekly meetings of "friendship groups" and monthly gatherings of "Cursillistas" (those who have made the weekend retreat) from all three Hutchinson parishes. Contact Doris Dreiling at 620-200-1004 or email for more information.
